The Hardest Question
As a Peruvian-American artist, I wanted to make a body of work depicting the beauty of indigenous Peruvian women. So I decided to create three images of these women at different stages of life. These women come from the Andean region of Peru where the cold caused by the high elevation has its inhabitants wearing thick layers of clothing. These three women wear their traditional clothing, showing off the bright colors and exquisite patterns that decorate their handmade outfits. Yet I have not included the commonly worn hat with each outfit. I do this as a sign of rest. Rest from a long day of work or play. Rest from the outside world. I want to depict a personal time of peace and tranquility, where she has no one to please but herself. 9x18" Mixed Media
